Can the 2 rubber hoses that go from the rear master cylinder to rear brake be replaced with braided stainless?

Yes it can. My steel line had rusted shut so it was not even an option to reuse it. Replaced it with a single braided line. Works great!Nathan

Correct. All the way from the master cylinder to the caliper is now a single braided stainless line.Nathan

I bought a whole front/rear set off ebay for something like $80. the sellers name was coastguard. The lines were no perfect, the banjos were not angled quite right, but they did all fit with a little twisting.
