  • Exhaust: OEM or Jardine

I just picked up an 81 Venturer and it is about as complete as I've seen in a while. It has the original exhaust, which are in really nice condition, and I have a set of Jardines.

Just curious what the consensus is here, and I know this is an often brought up topic, but as far as sound is concerned, which do you all prefer?

In my opinion the Jardines are as close to OEM as your going to get in aftermarket systems. However, I'm not completely thrilled with the look of the spaghetti. I'll likely sell which ever I don't keep on the bike, since my better half has been giving me the evil eye about all of the parts I have in the garage.

    Anyways, what's your opinion?

And I'll try and post pics of the bike in the next week or so.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

      Hot?

That's what I was leaning towards, especially because of the condition they are in. Anyone with a Venturer have an issue with the exhausts heating up the bags/contents within? I know they have the heat shield on the bottom, but was curious as to its effectiveness. Haven't ridden it much to test this since we just got our first snow.

Not an issue for some 31+years. The Jardine Spagettis ARE a nice functioning exhaust, but IIRC, having the oil cooler lines on the Venturer won't allow head pipes on #1 and #4 to clear the cooler lines with out modifiying there location.

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

            Hi Kyle,
I like the look of the Spaghetti pipes but as motoman points out and I can confirm they will not fit around the oil cooler lines without modification.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

              Exhaust

No bag heat issues with 26K on the clock. OEM everything maintains the (resell) value of the bike.
