On sidecar outfits there's a lot of side forces on slider forks that cause "stiction" seriously reducing their abilities, swing arm type suspension like the leading links isn't affected anywhere near as much by side forces.
Another big reason for using different forks is to greatly reduce trail of the front suspension, solos have anywhere around 4 to 5 inches of trail, this makes riding an outfit bloody hard work (or a great workout depending on how you look at it ), the leading link forks have trail around 1/2 to 1 inch (some have multiple swing arm pivot holes to choose from) this makes steering the outfit a lot esaier.
