  • 2012 International Rally (Europe)

In June of this year we visited the 2012 XS1100 International Rally organised by the Belgian Club. It was visited by riders from Belgium, France, England, Germany, Holland and Finland on a total of 105 XS1100s’. That’s a low number compared to previous years but was due to a couple of weeks of very bad weather. Despite us living in Holland our ride to the Rally in Belgium was 15 miles long. That’s because both locations are very close to each other on both sides of the border. Nevertheless we managed to get soaked completely on our trip home. After hanging our clothes to dry the sun came out and stayed out!
Here some pictures I would like to share…

The week started when Andy And TomB visited me in my workshop in Maastricht:

On Saturday me and Edith arrived around 12 o’clock at the camping site behind a hotel/bar/restaurant. It was a lovely site:

Stunning!! You Euro guys seem to be prolific modders. What a bank of imagination. I noticed a few front fenders that look like they came off of a WWII bike, heavy supports at both ends of the fender. Is that a mod or something that Euro models had?

Are you referring to the leading link front suspension?

Interesting pics to look at, to say the least. Also interesting, is how the leading-link front suspension set-up is the front-end of choice for the side-hacks.

those front suspensions look like a pretty common mod, I've counted at least 4-5 bikes with it...
