All of that is true, but try those fancy carbon core suppression wire on your XS and see how long they last flopping and vibrating around in the wind...
Mine did 6,000 miles until I sold the bike.... No problems whatsoever with them. They were flexible but robust and they don't flap around in the wind anyway Nate. I'm assuming that's speculation on your part and not actual experience of them doing that?

Not speculation here, this one is from experience!
I have never been able to get more than a year or so out of that style of wire on any vehicle of any type unless the wire were firmly attached to brackets holding them still. So for me, if the wires are free and not held down by something I use solid core.

Good to know. I probab;y didn't run mine long enough to find out

I never really got them running on a bike. I bought a couple sets of those carbon core wires trying to put new wires in my replacement coils. I could never get a resistance reading out of them, not even just cut the ends and try on the wire itself.
So I have never tried running them on my bike, becuase they kept failing all test before I could get them mounted.
I am sure at least a couple of my cars have them though.

I've run those cheap carbon core Autozone Camaro wires on my Special with Accel coils for over 40K miles now, no problems except I had to recrimp one of the ends once, YMMV
