    sorry if this has been dealt with already but can i swap a 120mph xs650 speedo for the 85mph unit on my '80 xs1100 special? if so is there anything difficult about it? wiring, cable, axle drive unit? thanks for the help

    Not done it myself, but I know I have seen it on here before. Should be a straight swap.

      All the XS Specials have the same speedometer. Some are 85 mph, some are 160 mph, and in between. It doesn't matter. They all interchange.

            Hi Greg,
            dunno about BC but if you tell the cops that in Manitoba they'll set you up an appointment to get your speedo checked and if it's wrong like you said you still pay the fine but you don't get the demerits on your licence.
            My lead-footed buddy Stan had maxed out his demerits so he said my "speedo said I was under the limit" every time he got pulled over.
            Then he'd drive home, swap out his speedo drive for the one off a car that read 20kph slow when installed on his truck before going to the appointment.
