  • Almost sorted!!

    Well, nearly there!

After the recent problems it's just about sorted, original carbs had a leaking diaphragm, holed float and on close inspection the pilot holes welded and re-drilled - badly!

The vacuum advance was knackered and allowing too much air into one cylinder.

Had bought a replacement set of carbs to do up over winter but these are now on in place of the originals and working fine.

So far I have bought 3 so called working advance/retard units at £50 a pop and none of them work so the pipe is just clamped off.

But at least it's working, and a damn sight better than when I first got it - it actually goes 90% like an 1100 should now!!

    There is one on Ebay

I see one on ebay. (search: Yamaha XS1100 vacuum advance). Maybe before you buy another, have the seller check it with a vauuum gun or other source. You still have the mechanical advance from the unit and some is a lot better than none.

I have no spares, but maybe someone on the site does.
