I am thinking of maybe changing my MNS over to Standard forks, brakes, and triple tree. Is there any difference in the rake between the Special and the Standard? I ran this bike with Standard triple tree, and Special forks when i first got it, and it seemed to handle ok. I have the forks, and triple tree, just need calipers, and hoses.

The triple trees were modified between the Standard setup and the Special setup to keep the same rake and trail. As long as you get both together, there is no change to the steering geometry.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Cause i hate those frigging Special brakes. At least the Standard has real mountings the them. I just think that they may function better. I got to thinking though, i may need a fender as well, or do i?1980 XS1100LG Midnight

Yes, you will also need the fender. They are a different mounting location which will not work with the wheel location.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

You'll have to do a few other mods too... the headlight ears are longer on the Special (the trees are further apart), you'll need to trim about 5/8" off one end or the other. You'll have to fab a lower headlight adjuster bracket or mod what you have. I did this swap, look here... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ht=Yawn&page=2. The brakes hoses are the same, you don't need to change those.
I'm not a fan of the special brakes either....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
