I'm using Styrofoam behind the side plates to make it pop out more along with the wire frames. The wire frames are all made with gradual bends to create shape, and it's also nice to have steel to weld the mounting brackets to. I'm using polyester fleece fabric for my first layer so the material stretches over the frames and looks natural. Then I'll strengthen it with fiber glass overlays. Tomorrow you should see something that resembles the finished product.

Thanks! I've been struggling to think of a name for the bike. Then today I was at the grocery store and some dude asked me what kind of bike it is. After I told him he mentioned that he used to be a Yamaha salesman back in the late seventies. Then he said the style reminded him of the old stripped down British bikes, and called their style "Hooligan". I don't know if it looks like a British Hooligan, but I think it's a great name for her. The Hooligan, has a ring to it huh?"The Hooligan" XJ1100, Virago Gauge Pods, Screaming Eagle Mufflers, K&N Filter, hand made rear fender, side covers, and solo seat, round bar conversion, small headlight, tail light, and cat eye turn signals, chip fuses, rewired the right way.

Nice
I also have an XJ and have been slowly making her into MY individual XJ. I have been wondering what I could do to change the gauges into exactly what you have done. I have already changed the bars and the way the dash sits. My questions are, did you get the tach to work and is the speedo correct? I really like what you did to your XJ. And a word to the purists, by us doing what we do it makes your OEM's more valuable and ours priceless.Just ME and my 82 XJ 1100. The speedo is accurate without any mods, and the tach works fine now. The tach for the virago has an orange wire which needs to be hooked up to the #1 coil orange wire on our bike. They are a direct swap over with some rewiring. The hardest part for me was relocating the fuse panel and all the pigtails to under the tank all at the same time. If you were to keep your original headlight then the wiring would be way easier."The Hooligan" XJ1100, Virago Gauge Pods, Screaming Eagle Mufflers, K&N Filter, hand made rear fender, side covers, and solo seat, round bar conversion, small headlight, tail light, and cat eye turn signals, chip fuses, rewired the right way.
