Has anyone painted or powdercoated their chrome front and/or rear fender?

I would love to see pics. I am considering doing this but want to know if the chrome has to be stripped or if you can just sandblast it off.

No need to "sandblast" just scuff with sand paper.

Did mine the other day (front anyhow) I just used 220grit to scuff up the chrome. Also sprayed the special tank and chrome cap the same way. I used VHT ultra flat black.

I di the same thing with Banshee. The chrome was badly pitted and the front fender had a bad scuff with deep scratches.

Look through THIS thread and you will see where I had them primered and in the end painted black. All was done with rattle can paint. (Not the tank, but the fenders). Page two has the primed fenders, bottom of 4 has the final bike with painted fenders.

If you're going to powdercoat, all you need to do is get them clean and rust-free. If there is any rust, I'd suggest baking at 450 degrees then sandblasting prior to coating. Do note that any dents can't be filled with anything but metal (yes, they make various 'plastic' fillers that you can supposedly coat over, but none of them work that well...).
