funny noise

I have three xs 1100s, My best one today, made a funny noise when I cut it off, I had just ridden it about thirty miles today, I cut the engine off and heard what sounded like a tire leaking air, but it was coming from inside the engine. it lasted about thirty seconds. None of my 1100s have ever made this sound, the bike stated right back up, the oil was pumping fine, has anyone ever heard this sound before. Later 'Dog

Valve

Bet it was a valve just not quite sealed on the last compression stroke and the compressed air was blowing by sounded like a tire going flat, ive heard that before but mostly on v8s. ................MITCH

I had exactly the same sound after taking my bike off the centre stand yesterday, I was looking forward to a long cruise in the country and thought I had a flat.

I thought that perhaps it was the fuel cap on the tank sucking/expelling air since I'd ridden quite along way before hand and the tank was near reserve.

How much fuel did you have in your tank Dog?

I had half a tank of fuel, but thought the same thing and opened the tank, the sound contued, I hope it don't cause problems, I plan on riding it to thunder beach. Thanks for the replys, Later 'Dog
