had my first chance to ride my "new" '80 special last night and noticed that the "reserve lighting device" indicator on the dash was glowing very faintly. is this normal? all lights work great and no other elec problems at all with the bike and the r.l.d. is still connected. this is the only xs i've owned that still had that unit left installed....

Hey there Mark,
Folks have reported being able to see a faint light in it, allegedly to let you know that it's working, but will light up very brightly if/when the low beam burns out. I was doing some swapping of bulbs just yesterday evening, and apparently didn't have the low beam prong plugged into the socket right, and when I fired up the bike, the RLU acted, and lit up the warning light. Once I plugged it in correctly, it went out, and the low beam worked again!
