The swingarm is from a 2001 FZ1 but I custom made it to work. The swingarm is designed as a single shock set-up so I bought another identical swingarm, cut it up to make lower shock mounts, and then welded those to the original aluminum swingarm. I had to make it wider as well in order to use to original pinch bolts (not sure what they are actually called). I cut off as much as I needed from the extra swingarm I had, welded the ends to the original, and added an extra set of bearings. I then order a 12" piece of hollow aluminum tubing, not sure the exact interior and exterior diameters, bored it out a little to fit the pinch bolts, added washers on the ends to hold the axle inside the swingarm and mounted it all up. Was definitely a fun project, I learned a lot, and it works, but you're probably better off using a stock ZRX 1100 swingarm with spacers. I have some pics somewhere I think, I'll try and post them today.2005 YZF-R1

never seen them that expensive. This is the seller I always see selling weisco kits, and they are always $525.
Might have a new Aussie manufacturer...

I see the guy in Australia selling the cast piston kit and since I already bought mine (from China for $150) I thought I would ask him a few question since he calls his "NOS"... he never got back to me, especially once I pointed out the kit for $150.I would be cautious about that guy, I think he is selling the same $150 kit with added cost... here's the one I bought. Keep in mind, the kit I bough from China and the kit from Australia are cast pistons unlike the Wiesco kits that are forged...

The tail is from a yamaha warrior, fits right over the stock frame so all I need to do is cut it down and align it to work with the lines of the bike. I love the color, I was going to paint the tank, headlight bezel, and front fendor black but I think I'm going to go with this factory yamaha candy red.
Thoughts?

I think that color is deep and inviting.

As I prepare to order yet another rear sprocket for my heavily abused V-Strom 1000 (530 Upgrade)
I cannot fathom why anyone would do a chain conversion to these bikes....
to each his own I guess.....1979 XS1100

Bigger rears is probably gonna make it stick a bit better in the twisties - you increase the front too with the new forks?
I've been reading up on those cartridges - sound like a nice upgrade but soooo expensive!

It has a complete FZ1 front end with a 120/70/R17 Michelin Power Pure 2CT front and 200/55/R17 rear. The dual compound Power Pure's are seriously sticky rubber.

so it's been almost a year, and I'm finally getting to putting the bike back together. what a headache! between moving, my wife having another baby, and some car troubles, the bike just kept getting pushed to the back burner... but alas, I'm at it again, trying to figure out where things go so I can get her running again. I'll post some pictures later today.2005 YZF-R1
