I picked up the '80 parts bike yesterday.
Probably paid to much according to the post below.
I gave $400 for it. Over email I had made my best offer to be $500.
He didn't want to but finally agreed to that price. So I drove down to look at it. (40 miles) Tires are new. Blue die is still on the rear tire.
While looking it over I saw a hole in the block. That bent value turned out to be a thrown rod. He said after send the night on the side of the road with it then trailering it home. He just got it off the trailer and covered it up and never messed with it again. The guy is a car mechanic. He had had bad luck with this bike. One week after getting it second gear when out. He put another engine on it. Then latter that loss a value shim and messed up the head and the crank was bad. So he put the engine on it that is on it now. He seemed like a nice guy. And I believed him that he never saw to hole. But now I kind of doubt it. Since when I removed the fuel tank I found the fuel lines had been cut and had electrical tape to keep anything from getting up in them.
But did throw in the two extra engines So if I want to I have the part to rebuild the engine on the bike and enough parts to build a second engine. He also threw in a shop manual. Some I guess I had never purchased.
So All in All I don't think I came out to bad.
