    HELP. Is my timing off???

Here is a pic of my cam chain holes. Messed with the CCT last night. Sounds like a diesel truck now. HELP!

Where is your T mark under the left engine cover pointing?

Sorry.. I had it on C..

The T mark is NOW pointing to the line and the dots are the same distance only in FRONT of the marks on the cam index. Seems retarded now.

The cam timing IS off. If I actually get the dots to align with the marks, the "T" is off by 1/2 inch or so.

What is the procedure to move the crank over 1 tooth?

The easiest way is to unbolt the cam gears and realign everything. Be carfule not to move anything too far though or you will bend valves if you haven't already.

Set the crank at T and realign the cams.

Did you turn the engine with the cct out?

Yup, looks like you slipped a tooth. Be careful like I said in my last post.

Looks like your chain is a little streached so they won't line up perfectly but your definitly off 1 tooth.

I did NOT touch the crank or anything when I messed with the CCT.

So, I unbolt the sprockets.. Carefully walk the chain over 1 tooth and rebolt carefully?? Is that the procedure?

Yes, you'll have to turn the engine to get to both bolts on both cam gears though. You might be able to get it done by unbolting just one gear if your lucky.

You'll have to remove the CCT again. Try and keep the back side of the chain tight when your not moving things,

but did you look in the plug home and see where the piston was and what the piston was doing?

The timing marks didn't slip, the chain did. Why would you need to see what the damn piston would be doing?

Always good to be sure since that flimsy little price of metal can get bent.

Nate, go back and read what's been posted. I told him to set the crank a the T and move the cams to match. The only reason the crank will move from the TDC mark is to get to the cam gear bolts that would be unreachable in the TDC position and then it will be reset to TDC. Understand?
