I have a 1979 xs1100 Special, when in high gears, i give it gas to pass, and it slips, but only at high throttle and higher gears, any thoughts.

New set of clutch springs should solve the prob. A fairly cheap fix and easy to do on the side stand without even draining the oil.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

Are you aware there is an adjustment down on the clutch as well as on the cable? I would try that first. Otherwise you may need springs or new plates.

Barnett clutch spring. Don't waste your time with EBC springs.

+1 on the oil. And don't use synthetic for the same reason.
