electrical gremlin ?

my xj sometimes runs like theres water in the gas. runs fine then sputter, jerk, sputter then catches up. will go dead at the lights. not all the time very sparatic. done it this morning, did'nt this evening. btw tried all the water removers. filled up yesterday evening with shell high-test and sta-bil, yet it did'nt change things, so electrical ? thanks !

If your lights are going out and the motor is cutting out it could be a bad connection on the main fuse, these old fuse boxes aren't the best. It could also be the cables from the battery, a bad ground will act the same as a bad connection at the battery screw.
