  • No bueno! :(

So last night I tried to go for a little ride on my baby when I got home for the first time in a month. It was running a little rough and sounded a lot lower tone than normal. After about 7 blocks of riding I was on my way home as we were going to grabs some drinks with the sister in-laws, the bike during upshift got stuck between I believe 2nd and 3rd and the engine just died on me. After getting it loose. It was STUCK in 2nd gear. It wont go up or down now like something popped and won't grab to shift now. Wondering where I should be looking first and any other ideas on what the french happened to Black Mamba. This is the 2nd time it happened like that but this time it won't come out of gear at all. I know I need to fix the slipping in the tranny but this, I believe, has nothing to do with the gears. Either way it might be a good time to take care of it all. Frustrating as it was bike night last night in Minneapolis and I couldn't ride it in.

On a side note, it sounded like a little bit of a ping on the top end after this all went down when i rev'd up right before it dropped back down in RPM's.

    Any help welcome!

I do have new clutch springs I will be putting in regardless and doing the dremmel fix unless I can find a nice set of gears cheap and just replace them. I peeked under the shift cover before I left her for a month and everything looked good. I am betting it doesn't look good now.

Sounds like you lost a pin in the shift paw... see the pins here in this post.

Couple other possibilities. The shifter return spring broke? The c clip came off the end of the shift fork shaft and let the shift pawl slide enough to misalign?

Just thinking of options. I would start under the shift cover looking for the issue.
