  • Another headlight question.. Fairing

I have a round sealed beam in my fairing on the XS. It doesnt appear to be a halogen once. It DOES say Motorcycle on the front. lol. Is this the same as the automotive round lights?? I remember replacing my CB650 light with a round halogen from wally-world a while ago.

Is there a difference between Motorcycle round and a regular halogen round??

Ok.. Looking at the H6024 halogen 7 inch round light at Wally-World. I'll take a stab at it and see if it will work.

As far as I know, motorcycle headlights are aimed internally different than auto rounds...possibly more vibration resistance as well.

Look at lens, you should see focusing lens lines in glass.

Motorcycle lense, the light goes straight out.

Automotive lense, the light is aimed a bit to the right.

Not really a big deal, if you really cared all that much you and rotate the lens a little to make up the difference, but it is hardly worth it.

Two totally different lights Diskman. The motorcycle specific light refracts light differently off the defuser(glass front) than an automotive lenses. Plus, motorcycle specific bulbs are different than their automotive counterpart, even though they will transfer to either. Wire size of element can affect resistance which can affect self-canceling signals, along with durability.

          Headlight, not turn signal.

Well, I decided NOT to replace the headlight in the fairing as I removed it after 25 miles of driving around town and on the interstate.

I just don't like the buffeting that the fairing seems to do. Plus the exhaust buildup is insane and give me a headache. lol

Will look into either a small deflector or just get a new full face helmet instead of my 3/4 for interstate driving.

Vents in the windshield eliminates the exhaust smell/vacuum effect behind the fairing.

Those vents don't do anything but reduce the pressure behind the windshield. If I close them, I get a humming sound at certain speeds. However, if you're getting exhaust fumes at all, your carbs are tuned WAY too rich! You should be able to stand next to the bike in a windless carport and not smell the exhaust.
