I wouldn't necessarily say carquest, I would have to say Wix filters (no matter who's name.is on it).

Ras, about all that we can show here is how much filter media there is. The Wix filters seem to have about 12.5 feet of media whereas the Fram has a little over 7.5 feet.

Since we don't (or at least I don't maybe someone else does) have the ability to test the filtering ability of the media or the strength of the media itself, I cannot judge based on.that.

I would say the true test would be to put the opposing filters in the same engine, run it for a determined amount of hours/miles, and check the oil for particulate contaminants.

The question that comes to my mind is are we looking for problems where they do not exist. If the fram filter at 7.5 feet of media gathers the particulates in my oil just fine for the typical duration of my oil changes, then it is a fine filter indeed. JMHO.

And I agree, fram will probably do just fine as long as you do regular routine oil changes.

But on a personal note, I have personal experience with fram filters magically disintegrating in cage engines so I personally will never use them unless there is no other choice...

Just in case anyone thought Natemoen's thread was frivolous. This is exactly what My filter looked like that I just pulled out of a bike I bought for parts.
By the way best count I can get is 65 pleats and 5/8ths to 11/16ths inch thick. There was also no washer installed on the spring.

I just picked up some WIX filters. Looking at them and comparing to the Carquest filter, I have to believe they are the same. I described the Carquest filter in a previous post.
