  • Valve shims

Was wondering if anyone had a good source for ordering valve shims, or if they still make them.

    Hey Nick,

We used to have a SHIM library that would be sent to a member for use/swapping and such, but don't know who/if it is still in existence or use?

We need to make a tech tip regarding them, their size..think they are 29mm, and that they are the same as another motorcycle brand as well as a car, but I can't recall. A search for shim library and such should reveal the info.
Someone may chime in with the complete info?

29mm is the size, Google 29mm valve shim and you will find suppliers. There is at least one online atv parts place that sells new ones for $5.50 each.

Check your local bike dealers in the service department; these were used on more than just the XS11 (Kawis also used these) and many have a 'stock' that they'll be happy to sell/exchange with you.

I found a local bike shop (independent not a dealer) that sold me used shims for $3 a piece. 29MM is correct.
