  • Gas Gauge

So my gas gauge doesnt work. I havent looked at anything on the bike yet i was just wondering if any one has had trouble with theirs in the past. I know it could be the gauge the sender of the wireing. I was just curious if these bikes have any issues with this. Just putting some feelers out there.

Could be something as simple as the plug under the seat at the back end of the tank not being plugged in.

The manual(s) have good steps for checking the sending unit and the gauge.

The voltage regulator inside the tachometer of my 1980G started working intermittently. The tank level would indicate empty every other day. I checked everything but nothing worked until I replaced the voltage regulator inside the tachometer.

I would suggest doing an ohm check on the sending unit as per the manual. Do a continuity check on the wiring from the sender to the gauge. Check he connections behind your headlight as well. Good luck

I looked up how to check it in the manual and printed it off. If the weather stays under 100* this weekend ill take a look at her and see what i come up with. I dont recall it ever working so im thinking it probably is a problem with the regulator in the tac. Ill post an update monday if i find anything out.

Mine works when it wants to and most of the time it dosen't want to. No biggie, I use the odo to gauge how much fuel I have left.

Mine always says empty. I would use the odo but i lost the speedo cable in my black hole of a shop. I sware it eats things. So i just put gas in it about every other time i ride. Would like to get it fixed so i could go on a long haul some time.

Ride a long haul with a friend to be your odometer, or just plan out your gas stops 100 miles apart.

                    No need to not go.
