                Hi Lance,
                like they said, M8.
                But wait! There's more!
The pipes should be held on by studs and funny nuts that have a cylindrical outside and an Allen key socket in the end.
                What you got?

                  Fred is absolutly right:

Depending on year and model, you should either have the 8mm or 6mm hex.
In the pic the 6mm one is the new one.
Like Steve said, the threads are 8mm and they should be studs. Search the forum, recently someone here was looking for replacement studs (and/or some all thread stock)

                    Hi again Lance,
if you have a stock exhaust system it's held onto the head by adapters that have fins on them such that the only way to get at the nuts is end-on with an Allen key so those funny fasteners are the only way to go.
However, some aftermarket exhausts come with flat flanges that allow you to use normal nuts to hold the pipes on.
You can even use Allen head capscrews if you pull the studs but there's the risk of wearing out the tapped holes in the head if you swap the pipes out a lot.

Yeah Fred, I forgot about the aftermarket headers. My SG has stock pipes with the 'finned' flanges and my G had a Mac 4-2 with the flat flanges. I've got the allen nuts on both and on my G they work just fine. Now my G has TC's homemade headers with flat flanges also and we reused the existing nuts.
I got my 6mm replacement nut from Boats.net for dirt cheap. (like $1.69 or something like that)

It's a 6mm driver instead of the stock 8mm and only costs 1.49 from boats.net
