  • Brake pad clip

A couple weeks back I was cleaning out my rear MC. I realized I needed a tool and ran to the hardware store. I forgot to remove the metal clips that the brake pads ride on and one came off.

Yesterday I found it smashed up on the road. I was able to pretty much get it back into shape and back on the bike but the pads dont want to move freely on them. Im worried about the pads not being able to release and heating up the whole works causing the rear caliper to seize up.

    Are these clips really needed?

You could get away short term...but they protect softer aluminum from wear. You need them.

This is what you need. Other members just helped me out with this one also.

If you ask around somebody may have a spare to send you. I'd offer you mine but I only have one spare and want to keep it to avoid having to buy replacements if I lose another one.
