Last update: Quad piston caliper conversion

I found out the product liability insurance for brake parts is insanely high. Needless to say won't be building the conversion brackets for R1 calipers for the XS11.

If any one is interested I have 2 sets of early R1 calipers for sale.

One set comes with 2 funny little aluminum parts that you should throw in the trash. I'd like $120 for this set.

The other set is just the calipers and I'll let these go for $90.

All of the calipers are in very good to excellent condition and come with used but good pads.

Priority mail shipping in the USA is 12 bucks on either set.

Yep, for standard forks. I drew up a set up for the Specials using the later model R1 6 piston calipers but never got far enough to make anything.

Geezer, I know you spent a lot of time figuring out how to make this work, its unfortunate you could not provide us with a final product... is there any chance you are willing to share your knowledge with us so if anyone is willing to DIY a set we can manage..?

We dont need the exact dimensions of the plate you made, just the critical dimensions of the hole placement and spacing (thickness)...

Do a search on the subject. I'm sure Larry put them up for download if not I'll find the files and make them available. If you don't want to mill off the brackets, a 1.7mm thick spacer behind the rotors will make the calipers line up.

The brackets aren't hard to make if you can get your hands on a drill press and a band saw. I sent my one set our for the milling.

Anyway I still have these for sale. If I have them much longer I may put them on eBay.

The left side is the opposite of this drawing, just make the relief cuts on the other side of the bracket.

Thanks for posting a fully dimensioned drawing! I might have to have a go at making a set at the Universities machine shop. Or, I could just make the part in Pro Engineer and let the Fadal make the parts in 20 minutes or less...
