took my bike out for a ride today and it died shortly after. total loss of electrical power. been running some tests. battery is good and strong charge. have narrowed it down to this. im not an electrical guru so im looking for some incite on what it is and what can be done to replace it.

its the module just left of the fuse box. the contacts are good. and i get intermited power if i tap it.

Thats your starter solenoid. It shouldnt be that causing your problem, as its only purpose in life is to supply a direct feed from the battery to the starter motor when the starter button is pushed. After the motor is running the solenoid is open circuit and supplies power to nothing. Its more likely to be a problem with the glass fuses beside it. These are notoriuos for having bad connections and throwing up intermittant loss of power problems. Most guys replace them with the plug-in Atco fuses. Do a search of the mods in the tech tips for details or PM Topcat. He sells a complete fuse block to replace the glass setup.

Going to agree with Brian here. More likely it will be the fuses (or at least they are contributing to a bigger problem). TC does sell a decent or if you are in a hurry you can get individual fuse holders (blade type fuse) that you can splice directly into each line.and eliminate that POS glass fuse block.

What did the bike do when it died? What did it do after it died?

when it died total loss of electrical. i started with checking batter and grounds. both check out. i pulled and checked all the fuse also go. then started checking connectors. when i got to this one the selinoid. the connection is good but when you bump or tap it power comes back breifly. twice i got it to come on after doing this. then when i tried to start the bike. there was a arc sound coming from the selinod and everything went dead again

              Hey there McShafty,

I corrected your photo links, you had the right URL, but you used the LINK/URL button, you want the IMG button and IMG URL from Photobucket to paste into the message, it's usually the LAST URL in the drop down choice when you hover over the image in Photobucket!

I have the fuseblocks in stock ready for shipping...Regrettably, the USPS has increased their shipping rates considerably, so I have to ask for $2.00 MORE to cover the $3.30 First Class International shipping fees!

I can't remember if some other fellows in Canada were able to find a similar block at their local auto store? Most of the ones here are TOO TALL to fit under the side cover. OR, they are the GANG style, all of the power lines go into 1 large connector, and they have 4-6 fuses out going circuits. Some members have used this type, but most prefer the separate circuits!

Photos and payment info can be found in the FOR SALE FORUM< parts, then parts/services by members STICKY thread, scroll down a bit!

              T.C.

PS, just saw your reply, a few folks have taken the solenoid apart and cleaned the CONTACTS INSIDE of it, they can get burned due to the repeated use.

Should be truckloads of them around. Start here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Sole...210353&vxp=mtr

Dont limit yourself to 1100 parts, 750 and 850's have the same part, as do countless other models.

I was able to fit an old style Ford starter solenoid to take over the starter duties on mine, but any hi amp relay or starter solenoid will do the job if it will fit and you can secure it.
By hi amp I mean one rated for 100 amp or more.

Oh, by the way I forgot, I also used a Napa fuse block (4 positions) to relace my glass array, P/N 785136. If you go that rout you'll also need 1/4" female spade terminals (right angle preferred, but not required) and fuses.
There is also a 6 position version of it but I don't have the P/N.

Any update on the solenoid issue? I think I am having the same problem, although the fuse block has already been replaced on my bike. I got the power to come back on for a second, then heard a buzz/clicking coming from the starter solenoid area, then nothing again.
