sounds like someone has bypassed the vacuum shut off valve(octi) you need to put the fuel line to the rear nipple (iirc) on the petcock and the front one could be run to the other petcock or just blocked off it was for the prime feature.

My carbs were cleaned and working. I've had some issues. I replaced needles & seats, main jets, pilot jets, etc. I know how to get them clean. After my last tinkering my bike ran more awful than ever. I have those little cone shaped Visu-Filters.

I gave my carburetors to a real expert. (another member of this forum) He went through the carbs again. He brought me samples of all the dirt he removed. I think three pilot jets were plugged. WTH did this dirt come from? Am I getting it at the pump? My tank looks clean. I may need filters like James pointed to.

I am not a fan of those filters with screens i prefer to use paper filters.

                    trdriver71,

You may be right. Fuel injected cars can eat up that crap thats plugging my pilots without a worry.

I had to clean my carbs up after getting some crap in there that passed through the screens on the petcock and some screen filters and the screens on the float valves so to me that shows me that those screen type filters don't filter that well after going through that many screen type filters.
