i have an 82 xj11 and while i am in the process of getting it running i have a question. I HATE the bars that are on it. They're the square ones that bolt on the top tree. How on earth do i change them out? are there normal round bar mounts underneath or am i just screwed? and i really dont want clip ons. Thanks all

They make a bolt on adaptor, or riser, that will alow you to put any 7/8 set of bars on them.
Something like this, you might want to do a search on your own tho, i dont know if these are the right ones just an example.

There isn't any 'bolt-on' solution... You can do something like the risers shown in that eBay listing by drilling the top tree, or swap to a 'Special' top tree. Both methods will require you to relocate the ignition switch, and the Special top tree won't accept the XJ gauge mount. Some custom fab work required...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Here it is....
I knew there was post on this...

I believe he used XS650 risers, and modded the ignition mount/cover to fit. Not a lot of detail, if you do this document it and we'll see about posting it as tip..Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Hey there GG,
Do you hate the LOOK of them, or their position/feel? They ARE Adjustable, in both width and angle of grip, at the TT clamp as well as the bolt at the elbow where the hand grip is! It might be covered with a plastic cap.
But if you don't like the look, then like Steve posted, the 650 bolt in risers are the way to go.
