Hi JC,
looks good so far, nothing there the bike don't actually need.
A work in progress so when it's complete it will have fenders and a lighting package?
Me, I'd throw a TKAT fork brace on it too, those things really help.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm working on a fender solution right now, might add a real short one on the front and back. As for the turn signals, I'm pretty undecided. I guess it will come down to whether or not my state requires them on a bike this old.

Hi JC,
hazardous thoughts! Your bike as shown is stripped down for the racetrack.
Road use needs real fenders to keep the rain from obscuring your vision at the front and leaving a mud smear up your spine at the back.
And never mind what the law allows, you need a full light package so the killer clowns will lack credibility when they claim they didn't see you.
OK, both of the stock fenders are kinda heavy and the rear one is complicated besides.
By all means substitute lightweight aluminum fenders, make the rear a hugger.
Put red lenses in the rear signals and convert them to tail/stop/signal so you won't need a fender mounted tail light.
Hang the plate on the back of the seat.

Super late to this party but I love the look. What tires and size are they? Also did your tank require some work once you removed the Yamaha insignias?
nice old skool look, mean and nasty.Nice job,but as Fred has said, highly recommend a fork brace up front, especially with no front fender, which acts as a fork brace on the xs.

That tank is off an 81 standard and is the only xs11 to use stick on tank badges. All other tanks are going to have brackets set into the tank under the badges that would need to be covered up.

Awesome. Thanks natemoen, I'll have to look around for the 81 standard tank. Looks really clean without badges. I love the angles on the xs11's tank.

Good luck, the 81 standard was the rarest by far. The tank is 1 gallon larger than the other standard tanks and it seems everyone wants them so when they do show up they are gone very fast.
