Side Cover Redux

[XS11UFO]

Almost done, now for cosmetics.




The left side cover looks ok and I have found the threads on them (paint and rebuilding posts) but my problem is that I dont know what the post is supposed to look like. The right (non-locking one) is fine but I dont know the shape or size of the post on the left side. here is the backside.




Any pictures, dimensions, or other help is appreciated.

You can rebuild the latch as strong as new using super glue and baking soda.

Yes, you'll end up with a 'lump' with this method, but you can file/sand it to shape. If the whole tab is missing like UFOs, I'd 'prefab' this on a sheet of something porous to get the basic shape right then glue it to the cover.

To prefab this what porous materal would you suggest? Is whatever I use going to become part of the structure?

I think I'd try a small piece of linen cloth; good strength and not too thick...

I think Larry (Yahman) has developed a stainless steel replacement for the broken tab on the left side cover, maybe he'll chime in with some more info.
