There's some previous threads on the subject if you do a search, but i think some were getting good results with gold leaf from art supplies stores.1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)
2000 XJR1300. The Real modern XS11. Others are just pretenders.

I dropped mine into some laquer thinner and let them sit a bit to loosen what I can then lightly sand the letters and wipe with acitone.
Paint them with a base coat of black and let it dry well then paint the letters gold or whatever color you prefer and let dry well. I found a paint pen to work best for that.Then a few coats of high heat ceramic clear.
I have used just regular gold plasic model paint and I've tried gold leaf. I prefer plain old gold paint.
