  • More stuff falling off!!

So, today I guess my ride home was eventful again.
After I got home, I go out to smoke and this is what I see:

I lost the damn headlight right out of the fairing!!

Maybe my green monster is telling me something. Maybe it doesn't like the daily commute and wants some serious overhaul TLC time.

SO, I don't have a spare lying around, so what to do....

My SG is just sitting there right next to my G....
    One hour later,

My bike looks so NAKED!!! It's been 7 years since I've ridden him without a windshield.
It's gonna be an interesting ride to work in the morning.

ps. I've got a set of front turn signals on the way from ebay, but does anyone have an extra standard headlight bucket?

I've seen a number of them on eBay. how much did you loose? I have a Honda with a Batwing and my XJ has the Vetter. When I ride the nekid XS I tend to find the enjoyment ends at about 50mph.

Steve, I didn't hear or see a thing. 65mph on the interstate for 30 miles each way everyday

I've still got the headlight plug. My fairing is/was on its last legs anyway. Many cracks. I'd love to find one locally for cheap, but until then I'm going naked.

Your not paying enough attention George. That can be a bad thing.

You can get a universal windshield at JCWhitney for $80-$120. I had one on ol' okie for 2 or 3 years. Better than alfresco.

I may have a headlight assembly for that fairing... The vetter plastic was cracked real bad on the right side where it was dropped... I gave it to a friend who has one just like it and he stripped all the parts off and threw it away. PM if you want me to check on headlight assembly. It had the adjuster wheel on it. Here is a pick of the fairing... PM me if you want me check on it.

Thanks for the offer Barnfresh, but mine's a WJ 2 and I'm sure that the adjuster knobs are on the later versions cause I don't have an adjuster knob on my fairing. The adjustments for the headlight are done right there at the bulb, like an automobile's.
I've got eyes on a WJ 3 on CL, but it's 100miles away and I'd like to lay eyes on it before I drive that far to go get it.

I think I might go with the plain windsheild idea too.

Either way, I've got to get something on the front of this thing.
Today's ride to work was intense! I had a hard time just maintaining 65mph on the interstate. The wind was so bad on my chest and face and the little rain drops didn't make anything easier. Maybe I've gotten spoiled all these years by having a fairing.

BA80, maybe you're right about paying attention, But I spend so much effort watching out for the cars and all the bumps/potholes on the roads down here, I don't think I would have seen it fall off anyway. On my way home this afternoon, I'm gonna keep an eye out and see if it's laying on the side of the road somewhere. (That's how I found my muffler 2 years ago)

                Update

After a month searching, A WJ5 just about fell in my lap!
Thanks to Nightengale for spotting it on CL and texting me with the link.
Within 2 hrs, it was mine!
The seller was asking $50, (almost too go to be true, and it was)
He wanted to keep the headlight to put in his new cafe project, I talked him into letting me have the faring with the headlight assembly but it cost me a little more$.
I think it was worth the deal. The thing is in almost mint condition, barely any scratches at all on it.
So, got home today and had to pull off my SG light and install it.

I'm so happy not to have any more bugs in my face!!!
