  • Missing something?

Finishing up the carbs today and have run into a problem. On the number 4 carb, I think I may be missing part of the shaft assembly.

The shaft with no washers is on the outside. The inside from the body looks like it should have a brass washer like all the other spring sides but it doesn't. If its supposed to have one, I lost it. So it goes body, arm, notched steel washer, nut lock and nut.

The problem is without a washer on the inside, the arm tightens against the spring. If I put in thin washer, even thinner than whats on the other carbs everything tightens down against the body.

What am I doing missing or doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Nate

      Yes, there is one.

I just checked my pics but I don't have a pic of the part and you can't see it after its together. I checked the diagrams I have and it's not there but I remember a notched spacer with the 2 flat sides like the locking washer. It was a lot thicker than the washer, almost the width of the nut. Not brass but steel. It was on the inside, under the arm.

Keep in mind this is from memory as mine are back together and I'm out of town, and it's a '79 std.

      YMMV

Hmm wonder if that one carb is backwards from number 3? On 3 its on the outside of the arm. With that washer inside the arm on 4 theres some side to side movement.
