  • The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin-San

Are you sitting comfortably, XSives? It's Uncle England's Story Time.

Once upon a time, in far away Japan, there was a little factory storeman who worked very hard, putting bearings in boxes and then stacking them on storage shelves. He was just like a little squirrel who runs about storing nuts for the winter. And what do squirrels do, XSives? Yes, that's right; they often forget just where they have hidden those nuts and they sometimes are never, ever found. But sometimes, the Bearing Fairy England comes to the store and waves his magic wand and all those things which have been forgotten glow brightly and our little squirrel hops along the shelves and finds them!

Of course, our little storeman isn't really a squirrel, although he does look very like one and is about the same size. Isn't that funny? And some people think Bearing Fairy England really does look like a great big fairy. That's not so funny though, is it?

Well, XSives, our little squirrel found something he'd hidden away and forgotten! What do you think it was? Can you guess?

A box of 23 XS1100 rear wheel roller bearings!

And they all lived happily ever after.

Sorry, folks, it's time for my meds again and the local institution is closed.

But..... I'll be getting those bearings next week sometime. One has been pre-reserved and paid for, so that leaves 22 left this time.

I would suggest to all new forum members, (and other XSives), that you read up the threads about this bearing and buy a spare whilst I have them available.

I may require all potential purchasers to post a story in this thread though, in order to be eligible......

You mean "me old china"? It's Cockney rhyming slang (a language used in London to confound the police, years ago). "china" means 'china plate'..... which rhymes with 'mate'.

It's supposed to. Apparently it was developed so criminals could discuss 'jobs' at the local pub or whatever without coppers understanding.... It's always struck me as a bit daft but 'me old china' is commonly used

                          Bearings

So, me old chinas, there will be 22 rear left side caged-needle roller bearings available next week. As before, they work out at $$36.80 each, including airmail shipping at 'small packet' rate. If Customs do not impose the usual import tariff, they'll cost $33.20 including shipping and I will refund the difference to anyone who has already paid.

The packages usually arrive within ten days but often faster than that. Only one of 200 has ever got lost in the mail and only one (as far as I know) has been opened by customs, just to check the contents, after which it was delivered.

I describe the bearings as a low value 'gift' on the customs label.

If anybody wishes to reserve one of these bearings just Paypal $36.80 to geewells1000@tiscali.co.uk but make sure that you give me your name, address and zip code in a message because sometimes Paypal doesn't divulge this information to me.

If you want more than one bearing, just PM me and I'll let you know the combined shipping rate (it works out cheaper per bearing that way).

I'll put a few on eBay if the demand from XSives doesn't cover them all but they'd have to be more expensive to cover the eBay commissions.
