Another, no tab washers on the front discs, pretty good sign that its been worked on.

As to value, its worth what someone (read some idiot) will pay for it, I ride XS1100's coz they're cheap and good, if I had £10K spare to spend on a bike would I buy an XS1100?? Nope!

Come to think of it, yes I would! .....an £800 XS1100, then buy a decent modern bike with the £9200

Definately wouldn't spend that money on an XS1100. I think the most I would pay for one of these would be around 3k and it would have to look like that. For 15k I would be buying a Hayabusa or a VMAX. No questions asked. Cuz I wanna go fast.

Agreed. Love the XS. To buy an XS for even 2k it had better be pretty doggone nice. I'd take the extra portion and buy a used F800GS.

Yes, but was it built after the book was written? I suspect so.... Life imitating art, as it were. Do you have the girl's name Wendy in the USA? It was invented by the author of Peter Pan, JM Barrie. It didn't exist before that. Same goes for the 'Scottish' name 'Fiona'... totally made up and then trendy for a while after publication.

What date is your Benbow Inn???

              Hi James,
J.M.Barrie certainly popularized the name but Wendy is a short form of Gwendoline, a real popular name in Victorian times. Fiona has Gaelic roots from way back.

In the past I have seen and been guilty of sending threads off topic.

However this has to rank as the best off topic diversion from the course I have ever witnessed by a bloody looooooong way

                I'm impressed lads

Yes, it has roots in a word but was never actually a girl's name

Definitely a major swerve off-course.... but fascinating nonetheless....

Anyone know what the XS of XS1100 stands for?

Getting right back to Bristol's Llandogger Trow pub being the inspiration for RLS' Admiral Benbow, anyone know how many Bristols there are in the USA?

That's quite a question, Fred.... 'Bristols' is a slang word here for breasts. Since you spent some time in England, I wondered if maybe you were showing off the slang you learned whilst you were here? Or do you mean how many towns are there called Bristol......?

                          Hi James,
still? How 1950s. Rounding out the US population to a quarter-billion then halving and doubling; that answer is obvious, even to the dumbest tit.
'most every one has heard of Bristol Connecticut but I'm sure there are others.
BTW, born and raised in the City & County of Bristol. Had to learn to speak Canadian when I emigrated.

There was one in the USA about a year ago... a Venturer model and he was asking something similar. It was pristine.... and didn't sell.I can't resist watching this one every time it comes on eBay. Just to see if there is maybe someone out there daft enough to pay that for it....
                              .

Well.... actually there was one. Actually there was more than one. About 15 years ago I had been offered several silver XS1100's, still in the box, which popped up in an Italian customs wharehouse that was torn down. By the time I reacted they had all been sold for about the price of a Bandit 1200 at that time. Can't remember how much exactly. The last one boxed has been for sale by a German for 14000 euros and was sold end of last year. It is now being prepped to get on the road by a member of the French club.
I must have that ad somewhere on one of my computers, if I find it I will post it here.
