so ive tried all day to remove the allen bolts out of my special forks...ive searched and searched and searched...ive tried a wooden broom, rubber mallet hammering the broom in, ive tried pulling the fork and slider apart , ive tried reassembling with the spring, nothing! i cant get the damper to free itself of the allen bolt!

Impact wrench.... Air tools are wonderful things. Maybe you can get a automotive shop somewhere close by to hit them with an impact. A 3/8 drive gun should do it. Take your broom handle or whatever with you.Greg

IIRC, I used a piece of square steel stock to hold the guts from spinning. Then turn it upside-down and put a wrench on the square stock to keep it from spinning. I hold the wrench under my foot. Then hit the allen with a hammer- type impact driver.
You may hafta resort to a pneumatic impact.

I guess you're going to have to drill the heads off. The bolt will still come out of the damper rods with a vise grip.
