  • Yellow Accel Coils

    Hi guys,

I found a pair of yellow accel coils for sale that came off a XS11 that I am considering buying. The seller does not list any information about them so I am a little hesitant about picking them up. Should I ask him to check the resistance of the coils or anything else? What values would indicate good coils? Thanks for your help.

You need the 3 ohm ones, not the 0.7 type.

Thanks Phil, I asked the seller to see if there is a model/serial number on the coils and if he could measure the resistance. If they are 3 ohm coils I am going to snatch them up.

What if they are 1.5 ohms, can they be made to work?

If they are 1.5 ohm they will work but you need to leave the ballast resistor in the circuit.

So he told me they are Accel 140404 coils... for the life of me I cannot find out what resistance they are. Their web site is garbage and a general google search didnt turn up any solid info... any tips/help would be appreciated.

They have a 0.7 ohm primary so they will not work.

Isn't the #140404 what the XJ uses? I think the XS # is 140403.

If you don't mind me asking, What's the price for these? I'm interested in a set of them if I'm correct and they will work for the XJ.

The 81 XS and the XJ used a higher resistance primary and eliminated the ballast resistor.
