  • Please help me identify my xs1100?

Hey all, my first post here, I was sold an "82 Yamaha xs1100", now looking at serial numbers, they didn't make an xs1100 in 82.

So in looking at the title, the VIN is JYA10M000CA006550, frame is 10M006550 and engine is 2H7-02739. The tank is a maroon color and there are no side plastic covers. Any ideas? Sounds like a monster to me, was sold to me as an 82 xs1100. So I guess I was ignorant before buying it, but paid $500 for it.

Thanks for your help from a total motorcyle newb, as this is my first motorcycle.

The motor is a '79 Standard in a '82 XJ frame. Not a bad thing (they actually had more power in original trim), but the question for you is the whole motor out of a '79, or did whoever did the swap use some of the XJ external parts like the charging system, ignition, and carbs. Because you have a 'hybrid', it may not tune like a stock bike...

If it's a running bike, that's still a pretty decent deal.

I believe I have a whole engine. I have a friend coming over today who has worked on motorcycles for years that is going to help me out.
