  • Misc XJ Questions, & PartsNMore 'Stuff'...

I'm getting ready to order all the small bits I need to get this bike back together, and thought I'd pose some questions to the collective mind..

First, who sells a throttle sleeve that fits the XJ? Will the 'single cable' sleeve that Mikes sells work? Are they all pretty much the same?

Next, has anybody tried the petcock rebuild kit that PartsNMore sells? Only $24 for both, I intend to ditch the octy so I don't care about the diaphram. I mean, that's a pretty good price.....

They also list fork seals for the XJ, anybody got experience with those?

I was somewhat surprised at how many parts they have listed for the XJ to tell the truth...

You could contact chacal(Len) at XJbikes to see if he has any throttle sleeves.

I ahve not yet purchased the petcock rebuild kits or the fork seals but I'm sure that is to come in the near future. I'm kind of on the fence about diching the octy...I like the shut off feature but it is a pain to work with

Those Mikes 650 throttle sleeves will work on the XS11, so if you have an XS11 one laying around, try it on the XJ and see if it's a go. They both have different OEM P/N's but that might be because they are sold with the grip as an assy.

        Steve,
I ordered both, the fork seals and the petcock kits, from Georgefix on ebay and I'm very satisfied with their quality. Installed them a while a go and both are performing well. I typically contact him directly through his contact info on ebay and ask him for what I need, even if he's not advertising it. He usually comes through for me.

I recently was looking at swapping my xs and xj sleeves trying to salvage some grips. The XJ sleeve is a little different in that the distance from where the cable sheath ends and the actual cable ends is 1/8" longer on the XJ. I decided not to swap them but they may work with the difference in slack being adjusted out at the carbs but they are different.

            Petcock seals.

If you only want the valve disc my research leads me to believe the kawa OE part 11009-1188 will work. It and the 3h3 yam part cross to the same K&N part number and the kawa OE is way cheaper than the yamaha. Just saying.
