    Gas Cap screw sizes

    Hey Gang,

    I did try searching first...

    I am wanting to replace the the screws that hold the gas cap onto the tank of my 78 standard. Does anyone know what size they are? Not the ones that hold the actual cap to the square insert, but the ones that attach the insert to the tank.

    take the cap to the hardware store with you kid. Easiest way to get it done

        They don't make m4x1.5 if its 4mm it'll be x0.7 but I think u r right on m4, 5mm long.
        BARE BONES CHOPPERS: If it don't make it go faster, you don't need it!

          That's right, I was for some reason just thinking about the pitch of most the other thread on the bike as I was typing (except for those stupid m10x1.25 which are near impossible to find in SS Allen cap heads).

            No SS, but he does offer some of these in chrome. Yeah, those are very hard to find.

              Chrome and any other version aren't to tough to find, it Is the SS that makes it neat impossible.

                Nate, that's true of most any fine-thread bolt, metric or standard. Stainless galls easily, and the fine-thread versions have too high of a failure rate...
