Surging Idle = How to fix?

My idle is surging, some times stalls out it is so low then other times it slowly climbs to 1,500-2,000 rpms.

any suggestions on how to fix it?

Sounds like a vacuum leak or the need to synch your carbs. To track the vacuum leak, try spraying some starter fluid around the intakes, or use unlit propane.

yeah i was thinking a vacuum leak was possible. it idled fine before i took apart and cleaned the carbs.

i'll look at it tonight though
