  • Good source for carb rebuild parts?

I have a spare set of XJ11 BS34 carbs and want to put them in as new condition. As hard as I've tried to resolve them, I still have carb issues and would like to put new jets in it as well as replace all the O rings, throttle shaft seals and new idle needles. After rebuilding the spare one I'll install it and then go to work replacing the same on the original. I may install a dynajet stage 1 in it and see which carb I prefer & then sell the other.

I looked at MikesXS but many of the parts are on back order. Motorcycle superstore doesn't seem to carry what I want. Any suggestions where I can find the parts I want, on hand and at a non rip-off price?

    What parts do you want?

Jets R Us just hooked me up with genuine Mikuni jets in a hurry.

Sirius Consolidated Inc has carburetor parts at reasonable prices, as does GEORGEFIX'S MOTORCYCLE PARTS.

Jet needles, needle jets, mixture screws, the different O-rings. Depends on what I find. When I rebuilt my current carbs I did not separate the set and need to do so and have the carbs dipped in carb cleaner once all rubber parts are removed. I need to get a JIS #2 screwdriver so I can remove the butterflys and replace the throttle shaft caps/O-rings as I should have done that in the beginning but didn't want to separate the bodies. Bad choice.

I need to give a hard look with a jewelers loop to all the jets & see if there is anything worn/scuffed that needs to be replaced, perhaos the PO botched a clean-up job with the jets? I'm pretty anal about these things but many people aren't. Perhaps the needle jet & matching jet needles are not mating well? no idea but I need to recheck everything and want to get new parts if they look worn. So, since I may be getting a fair number of parts, I need a source for exactly what carb I have and low prices/shipping.

For an example I looked on MikesXS for BS34 parts and see Needle Jet 336-Y0 here http://www.mikesxs.net/products-37.html#products but the matching Jet Needle - 5IX11 to go with it is out of stock. And would this be the proper jet needle/needle jet combo for my BS34 anyway? So I need a source that knows what fits.

Surprisingly the Dynajet kit does include their jet needles but does not contain matching needle jets. The Dynajets have much longer jet needles than stock and though I removed all the dynajet parts I always wondered how well their fit matches the Mikuni dimensions and if I were to use the dynajet kit in the 2nd set of carbs, what needle jet would be ideal to mate with it?

        Parts is parts...

The needles are unobtainium. AFAIK, the only way to get NEW needles is to install a Dynojet kit. The kit comes with new main jets that fit the new needles. You won't find new emulsion tubes anywhere either, though they don't usually need to be replaced. The Dynojet kit also comes with new air jets, and you use the OEM pilot jets.

If you want a regular kit with main and pilot jets, float needles and seats, and Fuel/air mixture screws (with springs and washers), then Georgefix is the way to go. I have gotten them from Z1 as well.

That Sirius Consolidated site is great!! I was able to save almost half on carb boots there. Also have one slide with a small bare spot in the diaphram so I got one from them also, again half the price of alot of places.

I have yet to find a source for emulsion tubes or needle valves for the 81 and up models. You can get kits with the needle jets for 78-80 models but for some reason they are unobtanium as Bug put it for 81 and up.

The 80 models use the same needles as the 81's, the 78's and 79's use different needles which I understand can be found. I also have heard that you CAN find needles for the specials, just not for the standards as Motoman seems to have said he found special needles, but I could be mistaken. Fortunately for the mileage on them mine seem to still be in pretty good shape, but it would be nice if someone could find NOS examples of the needles and we could get them duplicated.

Cy, the parts fiche indicate the 80 and 81 needles are not the same. which is what I was told by Georgefix when I went to buy my first SH carb kits form him. So I do believe they are different.
