  • lousy running problem solved

So after many years of good running and some sensor and coil problems solved the engine began to run like crap again with a similar problem of what seemed to be two cylinders dropping out at random after a minute or so of running so me thought the ignition system was going to hell agian. WRONG

After cleaning the carbs I hooked up the gas tank and filled the carbs full from empty which is a fair amount of fuel. Then for some reason I opened the gas tank cap. I was intruiged by the sound of a rush of incoming air
to the gas tank as the cap was opened. Looking at the gas cap I noticed that it was pretty rusty and I wrapped my luvin lips around it and tried to suck some air and was unable to get any. That's right the cap vent was rusted shut and there was no air incoming to the tank soooooo..... time to get some tank ventilation going and stop the vacum lock in the tank.... sound good? Must rebuild gas cap now.

Sounds right. There are some threads on here about rebuilding the gas cap. I had the same thing myself. It just shows how diagnosis of a problem can save time, money and effort. Some people would have started buying new coils etc etc..... Nice work!
