Well, after a bit of a hiatus from anything XS11 related, I'm finally getting back around to getting this bike on the road. I'd even forgotten my forum username, cheers to TC for finding that one again for me. The old carbies caused me a lot of grief, and I can safely say that the ZRX1200 carbies I've installed on it has restored the relationship between this bike and I.
I finally made the decision to sell my FJ1200, and make the XS1100 the touring bike it always intended to be. I've got a couple of photos to show off, then I also have a couple of issues that I'm hoping I can get some advice on. Photos first!

I'm finally happy with how everything has come up, and it's been a long time coming getting it right. I'm thinking the panniers and rack might be sitting a bit high, so I'm going to mount it a little lower if the rack allows me to. And if you noticed the home-made baffle in the end of the Hooker exhausts, I do realise it's sacrilege. Unfortunately, I think they'd just be too loud to pass registration inspection. Makes a beautiful low tone without the baffle though.
So, my main problem is, I'm having a couple of issues when trying to put the touring gear on. Basically, when I install the panniers and take it for a spin, the wobble on the front end becomes downright dangerous, even at low speeds. Seems like the extra weight on the back is causing it, since when I take the gear off and ride it, she handles fine. Has anyone come across suspension issues like this when installing panniers? I've tried to change the oil in the forks (went to a 10W fork oil, perhaps this should be heavier?), and I've got the rear shocks on the highest setting (both damping and pre-load).
I know it's a fair whack of extra weight in the rear, but I figured it should be able to handle it. But I'm happy to be told I'm wrong here. I'm pretty good when it comes to fuel systems, but suspension is one of those things I'm only just learning about.
