    Project Completed, 1978 XS1100E

    Good Morning!!! Well, guru's, extremely knowing individuals, and others (me), I have completed my project as far as I want to go with it. Been riding a little, getting used to the bike so I can take my driving test, and it runs great. Thanks to all of you for the advice and council!!! Got the blinkers working, carbs cleaned and running and adjusted, front forks, fluids changed, gas tank cleaned and de-rusted, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!!! Now it's up for sale (when I get my endorsement) and will be back on the road for someone. Now, I can start on the 1979 I have in pieces all over my garage!!! Hope you like it:

      Nice bike love the green.

      Nice work! I plan on polishing and cleaning my 80G this winter but for right now power wash is all she gets. Great job. I love that you took lots of pics.

          ver nice bike! Well done. Don't take it as a criticisme but your passenger grabrail has been mounted the wrong way but that's a very common mistake .
          The lower part should point forward.

            +1 on all that. It's a nice rebuild and look great! The grabrail is definitely upside down though. This mistake is so common that the Haynes manual pix in the UK show it upside down too. Mounted the right way, the lines follow the rear seat cowling shape very nicely and the points face forward, nicely parallel with the lines of the bike......

            IMO these models are the best.....but I'm biased....
            XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.

                Ok, I see that now, and I just checked the seat on my '79, and yes, I see how that is mounted. Wow, I was right when I said "Gurus"!!!! Ok, now, answer me one question: About, every third time turning the beast on, the headlamp fuse blows. It is driving me nuts. I have had it apart three times, and cant find any rubbing wires, no shorts, but I put a new fuse in (the right amps), and it works, and then it blows???? Yaaaaah!!!! I will change that grab bar!!!
