  • 650 carb swap into 1100?

I read somewhere on here that the '81 650 carb body (with the longer vacuum slide) will swap bodies with the later 1100 carb sets.

    Is this true?

Granted, all the other internal parts need to come out of the 1100 carbs to put into the 650 body. (needles, jets, springs, diaphrams, floats, etc.)
I've been looking at MikesXS for a while now and notice that there are a LOT of 650 (BS34) parts that will fit the 1100, like gaskets, floats, float needles, diaphrams, etc.
So, that got me to think about all those that have broken 1100 carb bodies (posts, stripped out holes, etc).

Is this a viable option to get a good replacement body to replace one that might be beyond repair?

I know that #1 thru #4 are all a little different, but with a little careful selection, can this work?

The internal workings and passages are different and will NOT mix with the XS carbs. You could probably make a whole carb bank from 650 carbs. Can't mix the 650 and 11 carbs though.

IIRC, I think jetmechmarty tried this and it's a no go.

To confirm what was already stated. While this idea might seem logical, it Does Not Work. jetmechmarty indeed did try 1-650 carb body with 3-11 carbs in the bank. Didn't work and caused him all kind of hassle, frustration, expense and loss of riding time. The 650 carb didn't Resolve the original problem, it Became the Problem. I missed this thread. NO, IT DOES NOT WORK. I tried it. The bodies look the same, but they aren't.
