  • In need of a windshield. Reccomendations?

I need a good windshield. I ran a fairing style windshield (plexi-fairing) for a couple weeks and hated it. Didn't have air blasting into my face but I had air coming up from below, so it lifted off my half helmet even more than not having a windshield at all did.. And if i was wearing a t-shirt it would lift it up to my armpits and flail it around. Is this just what all windshields do? never ridden with one until then, but starting to get tired of the stinging of bugs running into my face. I'd prefer something small. Just enough to get the job done without looking too ridiculous.. Any recomendations? What's worked best for you guys?

I run this small windshield, sucks in cold weather though. Blocks the bugs well. It's the S-06

Yeah I like the look of those smaller ones. Do you get a lot of wind coming up from underneath you with that?

Nope, it just blocks what air is coming at your head and chest, no updraft or unexpected turbulence. The price is right too. Couple of pics of it on my SF...

I get the same thing with my plexi fairing. I'm looking to install a couple of those aircraft window vents to reduce the vacuum efffect that pulls you helmet and shirt up. More trubling to me, it puts pressure on your back and pushes you forward onto the grips. Very exhausting on the palms of your hands and your arms. I found a place where you can get them for $15 a pair. They'll break up the vacuum effect that causes all these issues. Honda has them on all their fairings.

I find the small ones like Bikerphil shows to be too small. I find that I sit too high on the xs's for it to be as effective as it should be. I find the turbulence to treat my head like a bobble head.
Some of the slighty larger versions on this site will not impede your visibility nor interfere with your shirt or other clothing. I have been happy with many of their offerings but I prefer a Jammer over all.
The A-92 or the A-66 are good examples, but their are many to choose from.

I have a larger slipstream shield (dont know which model) but I do not get any updraft or vacuum effect.

It reaches out to protect the hands and comes down to about the bottom of the headlight.
