If anyone is interested in OEM seals cheaper than MikeXS seals, which have recently become very poor quality, please let me know. More buyers=cheaper price. thanXS

Jessie,
Which seals?
2A2-14997-00-00 is shown for the E.
256-14997-00-00 is shown for the SH.
I am assuming the first number is correct for the earlier style carb (78 & 79), and the second pn for the later syle (80 & 81) For some reason, the early seals cost twice what the later ones do.
That may mave something to do with unsatisfactory performance of Mike's XS seals, as theirs appear to be universal fit. FWIW, anything made of rubber that I have acquired from Mike's XS has been inferior quality. I doubt that poor quality of these seals is a new thing.Marty (in Mississippi)

As far as I have seen in my research, all the BS34 and BS38's take the same seals. There are also some modern carbs in current use that take the same ones. I have both carbs laying around, I will take some caliper measurements.'81 XS1100 SH

Yamaha shows two part numbers for these (early/late) but from looking at the carb bodies I have, I can't see any difference between the two....
Which seal are you looking at getting? And do you have a projected unit cost?Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

These are the 256 seals and I am estimating somewhere around $4 each shipped (taped in envelope snail-mail). Mikes want $5.50 Plus $6.93 shipping makes them $6.37 each for a full set of 8.'81 XS1100 SH

Mikes are $5.50 a pair (or $2.75 each), the same price as boats.net. Makes me wonder if he's just reselling the same part...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

I read a lot of bad stuff on the 650 site about them not fitting well, so I would be surprised if they were OEM. Plus, I personally would be advertising that they were OEM if the were. But, then again, I have yet to find an alternate seal that size besides OEM/Mikes.'81 XS1100 SH

Yamaha Sports Center sells the 256 seal @ $2.43 ea. The 2A2 seal is $4.92 ea. At twice the price, I expect there must be a difference. I know if it was my carburetor, I would be installing the proper seal, (if I can get it.)Marty (in Mississippi)
