  • brake and taillight wiring help

Hello all you wonderful xs xj gurus. I have not posted in awhile but find myself needing a quick answer hopefully. I am bobbing an 82 xj1100. Now i know a few of you will not be very enthusiastic about this. Let me tell you this bike was an incomplete basket case project bike before I got my blasphemous little hands on it. The tail section had already been removed and the bike had been "hardtailed" in a very poor manner. I removed the hardtail re-engineered the frame to install rear shocks. All that information is off topic to what i need to ask. I need to wire in my tail and brake lights and need either a nice large clear wiring diagram posted or linked to me. Or if someone would be kind enough to tell me what color wires are for the the brake light and taillight it would be much appreciated.

Your best bet is go here: http://www.ringler.us/family/mybike.html ... and download the factory manual (look on the right side of the page).

Now, this is the factory manual, but how 'clear' it is is open to opinion.... The diagram you want is on page 150 of 191. The XJ is wired much different from the XS bikes and you said yours was 'incomplete', so depending on what you have there might be more than one answer....
