In a previous post I mentioned that after replacing my starter button, when I pushed to start, the starter kept running along with the engine, even after turning off the ignition and hitting the engine kill switch (I had to pull the battery cable to stop them). This weekend I pulled the starter to visually check and checked the starter relay according to the service manual. The relay seemed to be ok (it clicked once and ohms went from 1 to 0). I tried again using the old starter button (which I could immediately remove) and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why this might happen, or how else I can check it out? (When I used the kickstart, it started and ran ok).

Sorry to hear about your problem.Judging by what you have said I would think your problem is in your wires going to your starter button on your handlebars. The hot wire is grounding out, completing the circut thus causing the starter to run until you unhook the battery. There is a connecter on right side, below the handlebars start there and work your way back to the switch and check for pinched and worn wires to the switch.Check the inside of your switch real careful.More than likely your problem is in it or right where the wires go into it.Theres a tiny screw that holds a metal tab, that holds the wires togather.Did your bike do this before you replaced the button? If not its in the switch area. Hope this helpsBill Harvell
